Orangutan

Sumatran Orangutans are highly intelligent and excellent puzzle solvers. They are critically endangered in the wild due to deforestation and loss of habitat due to palm oil plantations. The Memphis Zoo has two females and one male orangutan. Jahe arrived from the Toronto Zoo in 2010 to join her friends Chickie and Tombak. Male orangutans can be recognized by their throat sacks and their cheek pads. Orangutans are the only great apes found outside of Africa. In 2016, Jahe gave birth to her first offspring, Rowan, fathered by Tombak.

Note: On all adopt levels over $25., we charge a shipping fee of $5.00 to mail the plush.
